Original hand colored copper plate engraving titled "Kriegs-Kunst" (Art of War). It is a detailed military map or chart created by the German cartographer and publisher Matthäus Seutter (1678–1757). Seutter was one of the most important and prolific German map publishers of the 18th century. He was born in Augsburg and in 1697 left for Nuremberg, where he served as an apprentice to the renowned cartographer and engraver Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724).
The print illustrates various weapons, fortification designs, siege techniques, and artillery equipment used in land and sea warfare.
