An exquisite collection of 9 original copper engravings by the esteemed William Curtis, each beautifully presented in custom hand-made linen mats adorned with a striking gold leaf gesso style. Each mat has been hand crafted with real gold leaf. Custom framed in a gold wood frame and UV-filtering conservation glass. Each piece measures 11 1/4" x 14 1/2", and the entire set spans an impressive 36" x 46". Condition: Excellent.
William Curtis began publishing the acclaimed *Botanical Magazine: Plants of the Royal Gardens* at Lovell Reeve in London in 1856, after starting his meticulous botanical illustrations in 1787. For an astonishing 160 years, he contributed to this art form, capturing nature with unmatched precision and delicate hand coloring. These plates not only showcase his extraordinary skill but also serve as a vital record of the diverse beauty of plant life during his era.
