Picturesque America After the Civil War,
Americans longed to return to the love of their
country. Picturesque
America utilized some of the greatest artists of the time
to show the lay of the land and the character of an area.
The images are romantic views, yet still very accurate. It
provides the viewer with an interesting blend of history and the
art of our homeland. Each one of the views is an
original steel engraving that has been finely hand colored.
